ABADAL

Valentí Roqueta founded Abadal in 1983 to honour the roots and vine growing  of the Roqueta family in the Bages region, a tradition that dates back to 1199.

Abadal comes from our family estate, a unique landscape of small plots of vines spread across terraces and surrounded by woodland and vineyard barraques (old dry stone huts). The vineyards, mainly on clay and limestone, lie between 400 and 600 metres above sea level and benefit from warm days and cool nights during the ripening season.

A U T H E N T I C I T Y

With a desire to reflect the identity of our terroir and our unique wooded landscape, at Abadal we value native varieties as they acquire their maximum expression
in their native land. Picapoll, Mandó and Sumoll are living examples of the spirit of our region. They bring a unique character to our wines.
They are the purest expression of terroir.

INNOVATION

At Abadal - since we first started making wine - we have led the way in innovation, while continuing to cultivate traditional methods left to us by our ancestors. We now lead research projects, which study the recovery of native varieties from the Bages region. At Abadal, we are committed to the future, yet we never forget our past. Past and future: a perfect combination.

PASSION FOR THE WINE

At Abadal, we are aware of how lucky we are to be able to dedicate our lives to follow our passion: vine growing and winemaking. Not only that, we work among vines in a beautiful landscape surrounded by forest. Every day we work hard and enthusiastically to transfer the beauty and values of our land to our wines. In this way, each bottle of wine shares the spirit of our land and takes you to the heart of our estate in El Bages.

A matís (nuance) is a small, almost imperceptible detail that makes something unique. The wooded environment of our vineyards fills this long and elegant wine with a nuance of balsamic and undergrowth aromas. The combination of a recovered historical variety - Mandó - with the varieties Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, brings many different sensations that evoke the taste of the region. It is enhanced by ageing in barrel for 10 months.
